Fortis Private Banking

A long tradition of tailor-made services for wealthy individuals

Fortis Private Banking has been a financial services provider for nearly three centuries.

The banking tradition dates back to the early 18th century, when Gregorius Mees set up as a broker of bills of exchange and insurance in Rotterdam in 1720.

For his part, JL Pierson began banking operations as Pierson & Co in Amsterdam at the end of the 19th century

After years of international expansion and partnerships, both groups merged into MeesPierson, which was acquired by Fortis in 1997 to strengthen its cross-border private banking activities.

Other acquisitions, such as Intertrust and Dryden Wealth Management, followed. Today, Fortis Private Banking has become a major international player, dedicated to wealthy individuals, entrepreneurs and their businesses.
